Janaki is a self taught artist from Andhra Pradesh, a software engineer by profession and an artist by passion. She is also an art critic and a freelance Illustrator for some local and online publications. She also loves being a Judge at painting contests and also being an art instructor. Apart from painting she enjoys reading books, listening music and cooking. Janaki was born and brought up in Vijayawada. Her Father is a civil contractor and mother is a revenue officer, retired. Her mother has always encouraged her to pursue art. She has participated in various painting contests from school level and won various contests. She holds a postgraduate degree in Computer Applications. She has also finished Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A) from Karnataka University and is currently pursuing Maters in Visual Arts from Karnataka University, Mysore. She has featured her paintings in several group and solo exhibitions and many of her paintings are in private collection. Coming to her painting style, Janaki often uses contemporary ideas combined with strong traditional techniques. As a subsistence hunter, she collects the materials for her work from the every day life she faces and the burning problems in the society. She feels that “Paintings are the unspoken emotions captured on Canvas”.
